As I embark now on this mission here at St. Jude, I can say that this desire has only grown. I am excited to get to know all of you, and to be a priest for you. Know that I have been praying for all of you everyday and will continue to do so during our time together. Please pray for me, and if ever there is something you need let Fr. Henehan or myself know. We are priests for love of God and love of you.
Below is a note from St. Jude's Fr. O'Brien...
Dear Parishioners,
Through my eight years of seminary, I have found that deep down everyone asks the same fundamental questions. As a priest of only three weeks, I know it is expected that I be a bit ambitious, so I want to answer these questions right away: Cubs, Steelers, Blues, Bulls, and Mizzou. With the deep, burning question of my sports allegiance out of the way, I can move onto the other deep question. I like to cycle, golf, swim, play baseball and yard games, and just spend time sharing life with the people I care about. Finally, yes I am old enough to be a priest. Just so y’all know who I am, I want to share a bit about who I am and how I got here.
I grew up in the suburbs of St. Louis with my parents and two younger sisters. We moved over to Bloomington as I was finishing up junior high, and I went to Normal Community High School. While I was in high school, I met an amazing group of peers who not only went to Church like I did, but also allowed their faith to change the way they lived. The way that they lived showed me that there was something more I wanted from life. I began to tag along with them to daily Mass, bible studies, and adoration. As I fell in love with God, my childhood desire for service was reignited within me. What was different then, however, was that I understood that what everyone wants deep down is a relationship with God. That is what God created us for, and having seen this, I knew that my desire was leading me right into the heart of the priesthood. Deep down, I longed to be able to bring God to humanity and humanity to God.
As I embark now on this mission here at St. Jude, I can say that this desire has only grown. I am excited to get to know all of you, and to be a priest for you. Know that I have been praying for all of you everyday and will continue to do so during our time together. Please pray for me, and if ever there is something you need let Fr. Henehan or myself know. 13th Annual Golf Outing on June 16th
Mark you calendars for St. Jude's 13th annual parish golf outing, hosted by the Men of St. Jude. This year's event will be at Quail Meadows (East Peoria). Sign-up after Masses May 25 to June 9.

Conquer The Night Returns
Adoration will begin after Vigil Mass on Saturday, June 2 and end just before 7:30am Mass on Sunday, June 3. Mark your calendar now and plan to spend an hour (or more) with our Lord. Consider making a commitment by signing up for a time slot in the gathering space.

SVDP Needs Your Help
If we accept this generous offer, we will have to load and move all of these items to the St. Joseph Furniture Bank and unload the items here. A truck has already been secured for the transportation of the items. This needs to happen when a Bergner's representative is available, which will be this coming Monday afternoon and Tuesday (May 14th and 15th).
Dear St. Jude Parishioners,
Our St. Vincent de Paul Society has received a great blessing for its ministry. We have been offered approximately 25 display mattress/box spring sets, many display tables, perhaps about 50, as well as some chairs and a few other smaller items from the Sheridan Village Bergner's store. As most of you are aware, the Bergner's stores are going out of business, so time is of the essence.
If we accept this generous offer, we will have to load and move all of these items to the St. Joseph Furniture Bank and unload the items here. Please pass this request on to any high school or college students who may want to help.
These items would be such a fantastic benefit to many of the families we meet who have little or no furniture. Thank you so much for considering helping this ministry!

Totus Tuus
Totus Tuus is a Latin phrase that means “totally yours,” a motto given to us by the Pope Saint John Paul II in describing his dedication to Jesus through Mary. For one week during the summer, we provide Catholic children in grades 1-12 a prayer-filled environment that will help them come closer to Christ through His Mother, Mary.
Totus Tuus summer camp will run June 17th-22nd.
Totus Tuus is a Latin phrase that means “totally yours,” a motto given to us by the Pope Saint John Paul II in describing his dedication to Jesus through Mary. For one week during the summer, we provide Catholic children in grades 1-12 a prayer-filled environment that will help them come closer to Christ through His Mother, Mary.
In 2018, Totus Tuus will dive deep into the Apostle's Creed. Our creative and enthusiastic team will also help youth come to know and devote themselves to Mary, Our Mother, as they study and pray the Luminous Mysteries.

- Sunday - Thursday for teens 7th-high school
- Cost is $45 dollars for day camp, $30 for each additional child, and max of $100
- Teen program runs on donations
- Registration will begin starting Saturday, May 19th after Masses.

Annual Diocesan Appeal (ADA) Update
The 2018 Annual Diocesan Appeal is now underway in our parish. Your support of this year's Appeal ensures that essential charitable, educational and pastoral ministries of the Diocese of Peoria are continued and carried forward.

Thanks to all who made a pledge to the Annual Diocesan Appeal last weekend. No gift is too small, and our parish is trying to reach 100% participation.
If you have not yet made a gift to the ADA, we invite you to do so today. There are envelopes at the Connection Center. Did you know you can give online? Visit www.cdop.org and click on "2018 ADA Online Donations" to make your gift. Please return an ADA pledge card to the parish office, indicating your online gift. Every dollar raised to make our goal ($134,867) supports important diocesan services and every dollar raised over our goal will be returned to the parish to help us pay down our debt.

Make each first Wednesday a monthly morning retreat – join us for daily mass at 8:30am
and stay for the Mom’s Group speaker & discussion from 9:15 to 11:00am. What a great way to treat yourself and grow in faith! The group meets in the Old Social Hall. These mornings are a chance for moms to come together for fellowship, faith enrichment, and fun!

The April 11, 2018 guest speaker is Diane Dunniway.
Diane is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She has her Master’s and Doctorate in Nursing. She helps women make sense of the current controversies and research in hormone therapy, including the benefits of bio-identical hormones. She is also a Fertility Care Practitioner and Medical Consultant in Creighton Model Fertility Care.

This summer St. Jude will be sponsoring a Charter Bus for the Dominican Sisters' Final Vows on July 25. God willing, two sisters who were assigned at St. Jude will make their Final Vows.

- The cost to ride the bus $65 per seat.
- We reserved rooms at the Wyndham Hotel near the Motherhouse for $75 per room, feel free to share the cost with a friend.
- We will board the bus after the 8:30am Mass July 24 and return July 25 in the evening.
- There is a 30 person minimum for this to happen, so start talking to your friends about going! If you are interested please see Fr. Bolek.

As one of the leaders of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Judy’s interest started 10 years ago when she took a Just Faith class here at St. Jude and it gave her a new awareness of the many social justice issues here in our community. Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering.
