Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

Are you thinking about Becoming Catholic? Do you desire to follow Jesus Christ for the rest of your life? This is the first step in a lifelong journey of discipleship! Formerly called RCIA or OCIA, this is the Catholic Church’s process to bring adults, through study, spiritual growth, and community, into the heart of the Kingdom of Heaven.

OCIA stands for Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. Which is the ancient process of presenting the truths of the faith which Christ taught His apostles, and which they (and their successors) have continued to teach through His church.

In ancient times Christian faith Formation and Initiation took place over a minimum of two years. Today OCIA begins in mid-September and runs through mid-April, when the Sacraments of Christian Initiation are celebrated at the Easter Vigil. After the reception of the Easter Sacraments, there are several follow-up gatherings leading up to Pentecost (the birthday of the Church, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles in the upper room). 

OCIA Faith Formation meets at 6:30pm on Thursday evenings here at St. Jude Parish meeting in Hettinger Hall. All are welcome to attend!
